Just because school’s out, doesn’t mean learning and growing stops! It’s that time of the year again – two months of glorious professional learning when educators across the country attend countless workshops and programs to up their game for the coming school year and to connect with one another.
We’re excited about the great STEM workshops we have planned for the Summer to help teachers embrace and share cutting edge learning techniques that will make STEM stick with students like project-based learning, inquiry-based math, NGSS implementation and more.
We’re kicking off Summer PD with the New York Departement of Education (@NYCSchools) and their “2015 Summer STEM Institute” (#NYCSTEM) taking place July 6-8 as a part of their CTE And STEM Initiatives. Funded by GE Foundation (@GE_Foundation), the 2015 Summer STEM Institute is the first-ever intensive, three-day, citywide STEM Institute where teachers and school leaders throughout the city will have professional learning opportunities and be able to work with STEM partner organizations. In addition to the 3-day intensive, educators will get ongoing support in planning and implementing quality STEM instruction throughout the coming school year. A whopping 300 educators and school leaders from 100 schools are attending the Institute. It doesn’t get any better than this.
We’re very excited to participate in this first-ever, citywide STEM initiative and look forward to meeting the over 200 STEM teachers participating. The IT’S ABOUT TIME® (IAT) crew will be presenting a killer workshop on the ever-popular Engineering The Future™ curriculum (a teacher and student favorite).
